The Apprentice program will document and track attendance of students at our astronomy lessons or specific events that we sponsor. It is the method that students can earn their student membership to the Rittenhouse Astronomical Society.

  • Students will attend six (6) astronomy lessons conducted at the monthly Rittenhouse meetings.
  • Students will maintain their attendance record on the apprentice certificate - obtained at a regular Rittenhouse meeting. A Rittenhouse Medal Sticker will be affixed to the certificate for each lesson/sponsored event attached.
  • Upon collection of six (6) medallions that are dated by our meeting officer of attendance, students may exchange the Apprentice Certificate for the Student Member in Good Standing Certification.
  • Their Membership Certification qualifies them for benefits listed on our membership page.
  • Continued attendance over consecutive years will enable a letter of reference for student involvement in our organization. This can be used as a reference for college enrollment or employment. The letter will be granted approval by the executive committee after a review of attendance and the students’ involvement.
